GCCCS TECHFEST 2026: Exploring the Advancements and Innovations in Computing

 



    The GCCCS TECHFEST 2026, themed “Exploring the Advancements and Innovations in Computing,” was an unforgettable experience organized by the CCS 2026 batch, including BSEMC, BSIT, and BSCS students. The event was held across two venues—the Gordon College grounds for the main activities and the Olongapo City Civic Center for the hackathon, which also featured partnerships with organizations like Avalanche.

    As part of the registration committee, I assisted in creating and managing forms for various competitions such as Decoding, T-shirt Design, and Teamfight Tactics. Despite some challenges during the event, especially with coordination between two locations, the experience became a valuable learning opportunity in event management, teamwork, and adaptability.

    Beyond the responsibilities, the event was also filled with memorable moments—from helping in the dismantling of setups, interacting with fellow organizers, taking breaks at partner booths, and sharing light moments with mentors and professors.

Overall, TECHFEST 2026 was not just an event but a meaningful experience that strengthened our skills in organization, collaboration, and handling real-world challenges in large-scale events.

  The Skyrocket Collective           The Skyrocket Collective held a webinar titled “Scene Synergy: How to Balance Interactions between 2D Characters and Environment Art” on November 22, 2025 , via Google Meet and Facebook Live from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.      The session was hosted by Ms. Hershelle Agasa , with Ms. Alyssa Beatrice Dela Cruz from Top Draw Animation, Inc. as the speaker. The discussion focused on key animation concepts such as physics, weight, contact, the 12 Principles of Animation, and basic character anatomy and placement in 2D environments.      The webinar felt more like a relaxed podcast-style conversation rather than a formal discussion, which made it more comfortable and engaging for everyone.        The Skyrocket Collective successfully organized the seminar “Gamified Cycles: Insights in Game Animation Loops” on December 13, 2025, held at Gordon College Room 505. The event featured Mr. Mark Angelo Quindara, a 2D Animator from Mega Cat Studios, who shared his expertise on game animation, particularly focusing on smooth animation cycles and the impact of visuals in both games and films.      The seminar introduced valuable insights into pixel animation, which is one of the speaker’s specialties, making the discussion both refreshing and informative.
